The collaboration will continue to equip tens of thousands of students across Kazakhstan with essential human, digital, business, and artificial intelligence (AI) skills. By integrating Coursera’s offerings into the national education system, the Ministry aims to provide every Kazakh learner with access to the best education available worldwide. Students can earn industry-recognized certifications in high-demand fields such as Data Science, Cybersecurity, AI, Engineering, and Finance—preparing them to thrive in the global digital economy.
Modernizing University Curricula with Thousands of Courses
One of the partnership’s core objectives is to update Kazakhstan’s higher education curricula. Through Coursera for Campus, students gain access to over 13,500 courses from more than 375 leading companies and universities. These courses can be taken for credit, allowing students to earn official, transferable ECTS credits toward their degrees by completing job-relevant certifications. This approach helps bridge the gap between academic theory and industry needs.
Equipping All Students with Foundational AI Knowledge
Recognizing that AI literacy is now a fundamental skill for graduates in every field, the partnership supports the national AI-Sana initiative. Through widespread access to introductory courses like Google AI Essentials and cutting-edge content from innovative AI companies—such as Building with the Claude API from Anthropic—students can build a strong foundation in Generative AI and digital ethics. With over 1,100 GenAI courses available, this effort ensures that every graduate enters the workforce with a solid understanding of how AI can be used responsibly and effectively.
Promoting the Kazakh Language in Online Education
To overcome language barriers and make top-tier education accessible to all, the initiative includes a major localization effort. More than 4,000 courses on priority topics—including AI, GenAI, data science, and machine learning—have been translated into Kazakh. This not only preserves and promotes the national language but also ensures that students can learn in their native tongue while gaining globally relevant skills.
