Breaking: AWS Expands AI Partnerships with New Silicon-Level Collaborations

April 27, 2026 — Amazon Web Services (AWS) today announced a major deepening of its partnership with Anthropic, including training the most advanced Claude models on AWS Trainium and Graviton chips. Separately, Meta has signed an agreement to deploy tens of millions of Graviton cores for agentic AI workloads, marking a strategic shift toward custom silicon for large-scale AI inference.

Anthropic Goes All-In on AWS Silicon

Anthropic will now train its frontier models on AWS Trainium and Graviton infrastructure, co-engineering directly with Annapurna Labs. “This is the first time a leading AI lab is designing models hand-in-hand with our chip team,” said an AWS spokesperson. “It unlocks unprecedented performance and cost efficiency.”

Additionally, Claude Cowork — a collaborative AI tool — is now available within Amazon Bedrock. Enterprises can deploy Claude as a team member, with data remaining secure inside AWS. A full Claude Platform on AWS is coming soon, unifying development, deployment, and scaling of Claude-powered apps.

Meta Puts Graviton at Core of Agentic AI

Meta’s agreement will see tens of millions of Graviton cores powering CPU-intensive agentic tasks like real-time reasoning and multi-step orchestration. “Graviton’s cost-performance advantage is perfect for our next-gen AI systems,” a Meta spokesperson noted.

Background

AWS and Anthropic have collaborated since 2023, but this new phase involves silicon-level optimization for Anthropic’s largest models. Meta’s move follows its earlier adoption of AWS for AI training and now inference. Meanwhile, AWS Lambda now supports S3 Files mounts, allowing AI agents to persist memory via standard file operations.

What This Means

For enterprises, the Anthropic partnership means tighter integration between Claude and AWS services, with lower latency and cost. Meta’s Graviton commitment signals a broader industry trend: custom chips for AI workloads are becoming essential. The Lambda update simplifies serverless AI agent development, reducing data movement overhead.

“We’re entering an era where chip-level co-design is table stakes for AI leadership,” said an industry analyst. “AWS is making moves to own the entire stack.”
